How to read askBhargava
What to enter, what each page and chart shows, and how the pieces fit together.
Everything on askBhargava is computed from one thing: your birth chart — the sky at the moment and place you were born. Enter it once and every page reads from it. This part walks you through what to enter, what you get back, and how to make sense of it.
Before you start: what you need
Three facts: your date of birth, your time of birth as exactly as you know it, and the town or city. The birth-place picker fills in the coordinates and time zone for you.
The time matters more than people expect. The Ascendant — the sign rising in the east — changes roughly every two hours, and it decides which sign sits in which house. A time that is off by an hour can move the Ascendant, and with it most of the reading. If you only know "morning" or "evening", enter your best estimate and treat the reading as provisional; the Rectification tab can help narrow it from known life events.
Sex is optional. It switches on a few rules the texts state for one sex only — the marriage significator, and Strī Jātaka for a woman's chart. Leave it blank and those rules are simply not applied.
The advanced settings (ayanāṃśa, Rāhu/Ketu convention, timezone) are set sensibly by default. Change them only if an astrologer has told you to — they alter every position in the chart.
Choose how deep to go
After your chart is generated you pick a level. Reading gives you a plain-English story with no tabs. Practice opens the working tabs — periods, strengths, combinations, transits. Everything opens the full workbench of 112 views. You can change level at any time; nothing is lost, and the site remembers your choice.
The Reading level fetches a lighter version of the chart so it appears in a second or two. Some workbench tabs — the Four Gates timing table, for one — need the complete chart and show "No data" at Reading level. Switch to Practice or Everything and they fill in.
Your Reading page — start here
The plain-language reading of your chart, section by section.
The Reading page reads your chart for you in ordinary language: who you are, what is running now, your periods, and your birth chart explained. Each card shows the reading and, where the classical texts say something about that placement, a citation you can open to see the verse itself — Sanskrit and English.
Two things to know about those citations. First, every one is from a translation this site owns; nothing is quoted that cannot be shown to you in full. Second, where the texts disagree about the same placement, both are shown side by side and neither is ranked above the other. Reconciling them is an astrologer's judgement, and the site does not pretend to make it.
The Reading page deliberately does not show verses about death or lifespan. That material exists in the texts and is available on the expert tabs to someone who chooses to look; it is not put in front of a reader who did not ask.
Today, this year, and the sky right now
Panchāṅga shows today's Vedic calendar — tithi, nakṣatra, yoga, karaṇa — and the auspicious and inauspicious windows of the day. It works without a chart.
Gochar shows where the planets are now against your birth chart, in plain terms: which of your houses each slow planet is passing through, and what that classically brings.
Star Reading collapses the nakṣatra layers of your chart into six life areas, each marked Strong, Mixed or Challenging from raw signals — never a score.
Relationships and marriage
Compatibility is the classical kūṭa matching between two charts — the aṣṭakūṭa points and the doṣa checks, computed to the JHora tables. Our totals can differ slightly from other software because we follow the strict classical tables rather than a popular variant.
Marriage Journey reads the years after marriage from both charts, non-fatalistically: what each period asks of the couple, never a prediction that a marriage will fail.
Remedies, timing and the rest
Karma & Remedies reads your chart for direction — what to strengthen, what to pacify — and names the classical remedies with their source. Nothing here is prescribed; a remedy is shown with the rule it comes from so you can take it to a practitioner.
Pooja Planner times a rite to the day the texts assign it. Muhūrta finds an auspicious window for an event. Vāstu reads a dwelling's directions. Praśna casts a chart for a question asked now.
Asking the AI
The AI reading answers a question about your chart. It is given the chart the way an astrologer would be — positions, strengths, periods, transits, and the classical verses on each placement — and is bound by rules: quote only the values computed, never invent a date, never name a verse it was not given, and where several texts speak, report each without blending them.
Choose a topic (Career, Relationships, Health…) and the reading is scoped to it. Tick additional schools — Jaimini, KP, Aṣṭakavarga — only if you want them; they are off by default so they do not dilute every reading. Every answer is checked afterwards against the chart's own facts, and any correction is shown to you at the end.
Timing questions are answered through four gates — promise, capacity, timing, trigger — and a gate that fails ends the question for that event. "Daśā promises, gocara delivers": a strong transit does not outweigh a chart that never promised the event.
Your data
Your chart is computed and returned; it is not stored on our servers. The birth details you enter live in your browser. A chat transcript or a report you download is your only copy.
Everything here starts from one chart.
