About askBhargava

ज्योतिषशास्त्र · The Science of Light

Our Mission

askBhargava exists to bridge the ancient wisdom of Vedic astrology — a tradition spanning over 5,000 years — with the precision of modern computational astronomy and artificial intelligence. We believe that Jyotish, the “science of light,” deserves tools that honour its mathematical rigour while making it accessible to seekers worldwide.

But accuracy is only the beginning. Jyotish was always meant to uplift the common person — to offer spiritual insight and practical ways to improve one’s karma and live a better life. So we treat every chart as a map for growth, not a verdict on fate: alongside what your chart reveals, we show you what you can do about it — mantra, charity, service, and the daily practices that have guided seekers for millennia.

Our goal is simple: provide the most accurate, comprehensive, and thoughtful Vedic astrology platform available — free from the compromises of Western-centric astrology software.

The Technology

At the heart of askBhargava is the Swiss Ephemeris, the gold standard for astronomical calculations. Developed by Astrodienst in Zurich, it provides planetary positions accurate to within fractions of an arcsecond for any date from 13,201 BCE to 17,191 CE.

Our calculation engine computes the full Vedic chart using the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri, Raman, or Krishnamurti ayanamsha), then runs 42 specialised analysis modules — covering everything from basic planetary positions and house lordships to advanced systems like Ashtakavarga, Shadbala, Tajika Yogas, and Pancha Pakshi.

AI interpretations are generated by large language models fine-tuned for Vedic astrology, providing nuanced readings that respect classical principles while remaining accessible to modern practitioners.

The Heritage of Vedic Astrology

Jyotish — literally “the science of light” — is one of the six Vedangas (limbs of the Vedas), making it among the oldest organised systems of knowledge in human history. Unlike Western tropical astrology, Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which accounts for the precession of equinoxes and aligns planetary positions with the actual constellations visible in the sky.

The classical Vedic tradition established the foundational framework that Jyotish practitioners follow to this day. From the Navagrahas (nine planets) to the twelve Bhavas (houses), from Vimshottari Dasha (planetary periods) to the intricate web of Yogas (planetary combinations) — every element of askBhargava's analysis is rooted in this ancient, mathematically precise tradition.
